Following this, he fulfilled a mandatory 15-month General Practice (GP) service at the General Hospital of Chios and the Regional Clinic of Kampochora. Notably, he also assumed the role of a trainer, imparting essential emergency medical knowledge to nursing and paramedical staff within a military context.
Complementing his academic journey, Dimitris pursued comprehensive training across Germany and Greece. His areas of specialisation included Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, General Surgery, Trauma, Orthopedics for both paediatric and adult patients, Orthopedic Oncology, and Plastic Surgery. His dedication culminated in the prestigious title of Orthopedic Surgeon, conferred upon him in 2014 following his successful completion of the rigorous written and oral State examinations conducted in Athens, Greece.
Adding to his accolades, Dimitris achieved a PhD degree in Medicine from the esteemed Medical School of the University of Athens, a testament to his exceptional research contributions. Notably, he was honored with the 1st National Award from the Greek Society for the Study of Bone Metabolism (EEMMO) in 2015 for a segment of his doctoral research. A master's degree in "Healthcare Management" further solidifies his diverse academic pursuits.
Beyond his medical endeavors, his scope expanded in 2015 to encompass quality systems and ISO standards, with a particular focus on healthcare services. He holds the distinguished status of being an IRCA certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2015 and BS EN 15224:2016 standards. Dimitris is presently engaged in a post-doctoral research position at the University of Athens (EKPA), where he is dedicated to advancing the realm of medical knowledge. His research focuses on the innovative development and practical implementation of tailored topology-optimized 3D printed orthotic braces designed to effectively address spinal deformities.
