Dimitris is an active and esteemed Orthopedic Surgeon, holding a significant role as a scientific collaborator within private clinics situated in Athens. His primary focus encompasses performing orthopedic procedures that are primarily centered around total joint replacements of major articulations such as the hip and knee. Additionally, his expertise extends to addressing sports-related injuries, fractures, and a spectrum of general orthopedic conditions. Notably, he demonstrates an exceptional dedication to diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK-US), applied comprehensively to both paediatric and adult patients. His unwavering commitment to staying abreast of international advancements in this promising scientific domain is commendable. His training in the intricate field of MSK-US is rooted in educational experiences undertaken in both Greece and Germany.

 

Dimitris embarked on his medical journey with admission to the renowned Medical School of Larissa, affiliated with the University of Thessaly. His exceptional performance in national examinations culminated in his graduation with honors in 2004. Following this, he fulfilled a mandatory 15-month General Practice (GP) service at the General Hospital of Chios and the Regional Clinic of Kampochora. His subsequent one-year military service took place in Arta, during which he served as a doctor at the Rehabilitation Station (STEP) in Chios. Notably, he also assumed the role of a trainer, imparting essential emergency medical knowledge to nursing and paramedical staff within a military context.

 

Complementing his academic journey, Dimitris pursued comprehensive training across Germany and Greece. His areas of specialisation included Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, General Surgery, Trauma, Orthopedics for both paediatric and adult patients, Orthopedic Oncology, and Plastic Surgery. His dedication culminated in the prestigious title of Orthopedic Surgeon, conferred upon him in 2014 following his successful completion of the rigorous written and oral State examinations conducted in Athens, Greece.

 

Adding to his accolades, Dimitris achieved a PhD degree in Medicine from the esteemed Medical School of the University of Athens, a testament to his exceptional research contributions. Notably, he was honored with the 1st National Award from the Greek Society for the Study of Bone Metabolism (EEMMO) in 2015 for a segment of his doctoral research. A master's degree in "Healthcare Management" further solidifies his diverse academic pursuits.

 

Beyond his medical endeavors, his scope expanded in 2015 to encompass quality systems and ISO standards, with a particular focus on healthcare services. He holds the distinguished status of being an IRCA certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2015 and BS EN 15224:2016 standards. His collaboration with the esteemed Swiss group of companies, Swiss Approval International, underscores his commitment to meticulous quality assurance. Moreover, he holds the coveted role of a certified Assessor of Temos International and Temos Hellas, further attesting to his expertise in the realm of healthcare standards. His commitment is evident through his participation in a multitude of assessments worldwide, spanning locations such as Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, and the United Arab Emirates. To date, his contributions have accounted for over 150 days of assessments.

 

His intellectual contributions extend to a portfolio of written and presented scientific papers showcased in both international and Greek scientific journals and conferences. His expertise is further recognized as he serves as a reviewer for select international medical journals aligned with his scientific interests, including the esteemed Ultrasound Journal of the British Medical Ultrasound Society. His multidimensional contributions are a true testament to his commitment to advancing medical knowledge and practice.

Dimitris is presently engaged in a post-doctoral research position at the University of Athens (EKPA), where he is dedicated to advancing the realm of medical knowledge. His research focuses on the innovative development and practical implementation of tailored topology-optimized 3D printed orthotic braces designed to effectively address spinal deformities.
